This late nineteenth century image depicts a Black Vulture, also known as the American Black Vulture (Coragyps atratus), a member of the New World vulture family native to the areas extending from the southeastern United States to Central Chile and Uruguay in South America. A scavenger, the Black Vulture feeds on carrion, eggs and newborn animals. The Black Vulture appears in
